Tettris: Press

If music soothes the soul, then music with words can cause the soul to glow, emanating its own radiance, giving life to others. Tettris has juxtaposed music and the spoken word together into a soulful combination that allows the listener to benefit from both while diminishing neither. Tettris's album, 'Dippin', is poised to bring a new dimension to hip-hop. Tettris has succeeded in taking hip-hop to an entirely different level.

Music, music, music. That is what Tettris is all about. From singing the hooks on the jazzed up "Git Down Brown," to playing saxophone solos on “Git Down Brown” and "Feel Better". These two songs will cross over to create hip-hop fans out of R&B and jazz music lovers. Maintaining his truthfulness to a style that he has honed since he was stealing the show in college and community exhibitions, Tettris keeps it real like nobody’s business in the song, “Talkn’ Bout The Money,” while delivering a harsh and scathing invective on the ethos of the street and it’s appeal to young men in this day and age. Tettris’s delivery leaves the listener desiring nothing but to hear the song again, and again.

That Tettris uses his music to explore the darker and lighter side of the human existence is evident in, “Proper” and, “I Gave You My Love.” Listening to Tettris’ new album Dippin’ after being inundated with current playlists on hip-hop radio will be like stepping into a warm house scented with vanilla candles after walking through snow and ice with soaked, cold feet and frost bitten fingers. Born in Louisville KY and raised in Washington DC’s inner city, Tettris is destined to bring a fresh perspective to the hip-hop industry that can be described simply as, refined rawness with a purpose and an eloquence that will be the envy of the industry as a whole.
